What clients say about The Wellbourne Clinic

“As it is a holistic clinic you do not only learn the cognitive tools to deal with your recovery but also learn a vast range of holistic therapies to help you on your journey. If anything is brought up in group that the staff member feels that you have struggled with they are very astute in recognising that and will offer further one to one support after the group. Alternatively if you feel that there is something that has triggered you in group the staff are very approachable for you to ask if you can chat with them later about it. If you are ready to face your demons and get sober this is the place to start 100%.”

“It is clean, comfortable and most of all the whole team show genuine care and love for you. As ex addicts they they really understand the emotions and issues you are facing. The therapy was fantastic and has helped me to completely understand the way I view my addiction and the recovery process.”

“It is set up with 6 rooms to give maximum attention to each client. The quality of rooms with ensuite bathrooms make the stay very comfortable. The medical attention is excellent with regular checks throughout the day and night to make sure the clients are comfortable. The owners Tom and Jon are very experienced professionals with a hands on approach. All the staff are dedicated to the wellbeing of their clients.”

“The classes were brilliant and informative, and I loved the holistic nature of the unit, I learnt a lot about myself whilst there and am continuing to grow. I feel great and its a testament to this unit that has helped me achieve this. Thank you all.”

Arranging treatment from Birmingham

You can contact us directly about your own drinking or on behalf of someone close to you. An enquiry is the start of a conversation, not a guarantee of admission. Assessment considers your health, alcohol use and treatment needs.

Seven-day, 28-day and six-week residential stays are available. We recommend an appropriate duration following assessment and discuss the treatment plan with you.

Same-day admission may be available, subject to assessment and bed availability. Before making travel plans, confirm the admission arrangements and what to bring with the team.

If you may be dependent on alcohol, suddenly stopping can be dangerous. Get professional medical advice before attempting to stop. Read the NHS advice on alcohol support.

Understanding alcohol rehab and detox

Rehab focuses on the psychological and behavioural aspects of alcohol use through therapy, practical coping skills and recovery planning. Alcohol detox addresses physical withdrawal where needed. Not everyone requires detox before rehab; this is assessed individually.

Medication may be recommended following assessment where a clinician considers it appropriate. Treatment and monitoring help manage risk, but withdrawal is not risk-free. Speak to a qualified clinician about withdrawal rather than trying to manage it yourself.

Therapy and support during a residential stay

Our treatment approach includes one-to-one counselling, group work and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), alongside activities supporting wellbeing. Your programme is based on assessed needs rather than every person following an identical timetable.

Ask the team how the treatment approach would fit your proposed stay. The detailed treatment information is on our main alcohol rehab page.

Support when returning to Birmingham

Aftercare includes follow-ups and Zoom meetings. Discuss your ongoing support needs with the team before leaving residential treatment.

If you are returning to Birmingham, consider the support available near home alongside your agreed continuing-care plan. Independent peer-support meetings and local services are separate from the clinic’s own aftercare. Recovery outcomes vary; no programme can guarantee that relapse will not happen.

A very warm, welcoming place where patients are treated with respect. All the staff are compassionate and provide an excellent level of care. The treatment is very holistic and therapy led, and puts the individual at the heart of the work. The facilities are excellent and provide a lovely, family feel environment for patients. “

Excellent place, warm and friendly welcome followed by intimate but totally non judgemental care and support. Also, highly professional use of appropriate medication. By far better than a previous experience I had, it's more like being in someone's house than a stay at a clinic, but with all the proper care included. Highly recommend
